When things seem to fall apart in the world around us many of us turn to social media to express ourselves or advocate for the victims. Other people do or give to charity. Some people boycott, others go and fight.
But what can we all do? And what is really the first basic step to changing the situation today.
Well, it starts at home. It starts with teaching brotherly love through your siblings. Being compassionate through being a good spouse. Caring for others by nurturing our children. And praying together as a family. When people in our families see these behaviors and so does the outside world it fosters love not hate.
Many people view our Prophet (peace be upon him) as a warrior. And yes he was. But he was also a husband, father and friend amongst other things. He also set an example of kindness and forgiveness for others. And when at all possible lived in peace with his neighbors, giving them rights.
So we should emulate the qualities he brought as a husband, father and friend and try to teach them to our family and show them to others.
We can't force others to be peacemakers but we can try our best to be.
