HOW TO DISPOSE OF ISLAMIC LITERATURE
Question:
Kindly advise on how Islamic literature should be disposed? I have many Islamic magazines, pamphlets and newsletter lying around at home. I know that I am not allowed to throw them in the bin as they contain verses from the Qur’an, the name of Allah and the Hadith. What is the best way of disposing of such articles?
Answer:
The Islamic literature may be disposed of by burial. The Islamic literature should be buried in a remote spot where one would not usually walk. Some Fuqahaa have also recommended placing the literature under running water till the ink is washed away whereby the name of Allah, verses of the Qur’an or Islamic inscriptions no longer remain. The paper should then be buried.
It is not appropriate to burn these pages/literature as it is a gesture of disrespect.
And Allah knows best
