7/20/2015 2 Comments The hijabi and the strangerThis Poem is taken from a member of an Islamic Online Forum after taking her permission.
As she walks down the street Covered from head to feet A stranger stares at her And they want an answer 'Why don't you be like me? Be free and show your beauty Let your hair feel the air Let the world stop and stare' The hijabi listens and gives her reply And she tells the stranger exactly why 'I can show my hair if I want to But I don't want to be like you.' 'I know I am beautiful and worth it I don't need society to dictate it To tell me how to look and act They are only opinions not a fact' The fact is what you see in front of you A woman living for one thing that's true I only live for my creator not a human being He is my lord and creator of everything Stranger, let me ask you a question Why do you want all this attention? Why do you let them cover you in powder? Do you ever ask yourself and wonder? You are always getting oppressed By men that stare and are obsessed With lust and perversion your society runs The problems and struggles are tonnes You try to keep up with their definition of beauty First it's size zero and then it's size infinity Don't worry about me marked up girl Don't lose yourself in this filthy world I am free because that's what I choose to be You are what society wants you to be I will go my way because I want to You can live your path because you want to' ;-)
